Workshop Participants Gain Insight Into EV Battery Standards at NBRI and Carsurin Testing Facility

On December 13, 2024, the National Battery Research Institute (NBRI) and Carsurin proudly hosted participants of the workshop on Understanding Battery Products Standards for Electric Vehicles. Organized by Indonesia's Ministry of Industry, the event brought attendees to the NBRI and Carsurin joint EV Battery Testing facility, located in Puspitek, Serpong. This Visit provided a unique opportunity for participants to deepen their knowledge of electric vehicle (EV) battery certification and testing processes, which are crucial for Indonesia's growing EV industry.

During the visit, attendees were introduced to the testing equipment used to evaluate battery  performance, safety, and complieance with national and international standards. NBRI and Carsurin demonstrated methodologies, emphasizing their importance in ensuring the reliability and sustainability of EV batteries. The tour offered participants a rare.

firsthand glimpse into the rigorous procedures required for advancing battery technology in Indonesia.

The joint testing facility is the first of its kind in Indonesia, symbolizing a significant step towards achieving the country's vision of becoming a regional leader in the EV sector. By showcasing advanced testing capabilities, NBRI and Carsurin underscored the importance of establishing robust certification frameworks to support the local EV market. Such efforts align closely with the government’s goal of accelerating EV adoption while adhering to global quality and safety benchmarks.

Participants left the workshop inspired by the advanced research and development initiatives they witnessed. The session fostered lively discussions about the critical role of battery standards in shaping a sustainable EV ecosystem. Attendees acknowledged the need for collaboration between industry stakeholders, policymakers, and testing institutions to enhance the competitiveness of Indonesia’s EV industry on a global scale.

The Ministry of Industry’s initiative to host the workshop reflects Indonesia’s proactive approach to addressing the challenges of the EV transition. Through events like these, stakeholders are equipped with the knowledge and tools needed to drive innovation while maintaining safety and sustainability. By investing in standards and testing capabilities, Indonesia is setting a strong foundation for its EV industry.

As Indonesia strives to lead in green technology, facilities like the NBRI and Carsurin EV Battery Testing center play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between innovation and regulation. The collaboration exemplifies how partnerships between research institutes and industry players can significantly contribute to building a sustainable future for electric mobility.
