Serpong, 28–29 October 2025 – The National Battery Research Institute (NBRI) successfully concluded the Battery School October 2025, an advanced training program focused on “Lithium-Ion Battery Safety and Fire Risk Mitigation in Electric Vehicles (EV)”. Held at the Indonesian Life Science Center (ILSC), Puspiptek, Serpong, this two-day training brought together the largest number of participants to date, consisting of professionals from academia, industries, research institutions, and government sectors.
The training emphasized the importance of understanding the hazards, safety standards, and emergency responses related to lithium-ion battery systems in electric vehicles. Participants learned to identify key issues such as thermal runaway, fire risk, and battery testing protocols, supported by theoretical sessions and real-world case studies delivered by experts from NBRI, PT FAST, EVSafe Indonesia, PT Carsurin Tbk and Fire Department.
One of the highlights of this training was the practical demonstration on battery pack safety testing and firefighting tactics for lithium-ion battery fires.
Under professional supervision, participants performed live demonstrations simulating emergency responses and mitigation strategies, providing them with the confidence to act effectively in real scenarios involving EV battery incidents.
Through this program, participants gained both theoretical and practical skills covering:
Each participant received a complete learning E-module, an international certificate (jointly issued by NBRI and Queen Mary University of London), and access to hands-on laboratory practice.
In addition, participants enjoyed full-day sessions that included meals, coffee breaks, and a seminar kit.
Battery School has consistently played a vital role in NBRI’s mission to strengthen Indonesia’s human resources in the field of battery technology and renewable energy. With the success of the October 2025 edition, NBRI continues to expand its impact having conducted more than 38 training programs involving over 950 participants from 246 institutions and industries nationwide.
The National Battery Research Institute (NBRI) is a collaborative platform connecting scientists, academicians, industry partners, and government stakeholders in advancing battery technology and renewable energy.
Through programs such as Battery School, Training of Trainers, Annual International Conferences, Industrial Training, and the International Battery Summit, NBRI continues to build capacity and accelerate Indonesia’s transition toward a cleaner, sustainable energy future.
