NBRI Meets Kemenko Infrastruktur: Strengthening Collaboration to Advance Indonesia’s Battery and Infrastructure Ecosystem

The National Battery Research Institute (NBRI), led by its Founder, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Evvy Kartini, conducted an official courtesy visit to Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, on Monday, 13 April 2026, at the Ministry's office in Jakarta. The visit marked a significant step in building a stronger bridge between research, industry, and government policy in Indonesia's growing battery ecosystem.

The NBRI delegation was led by Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Evvy Kartini as Founder, joined by Muhammad Firmansyah, Director of Business & Academy Development, and Reynaldi Istanto, Director of Strategic Partnership & Industry Development. During the meeting, NBRI presented the concept and strategic framework for the Indonesia Battery Summit (IBS) 2026, planned to be held at JIExpo Kemayoran, and explored opportunities to align the event with national development priorities.

"Infrastructure is the foundation of many sectors, including battery industry development and electric vehicles. We are ready to orchestrate integrated policies for maximum impact." — Minister AHY

Minister AHY welcomed NBRI's initiative with enthusiasm, emphasising the government's commitment to integrated policy coordination across the infrastructure, energy, and transportation sectors. He underlined that the transition to renewable energy and the electrification of transportation are among the top priorities under President Prabowo Subianto's administration, particularly as the transportation sector remains one of the largest contributors to carbon emissions in Indonesia.

The Minister also highlighted the strategic importance of downstream industrial development, pointing to Indonesia's abundant reserves of critical minerals such as nickel, cobalt, and manganese as a major competitive advantage. He called for research and innovation to transform these raw resources into high-value battery products that can create jobs and strengthen Indonesia's industrial competitiveness on the global stage.

From NBRI's perspective, the meeting was a valuable opportunity to demonstrate how scientific research can directly support national policy goals. NBRI expressed its sincere appreciation for the Minister's warm reception and the depth of engagement during the discussion. The Institute sees this collaboration as essential to positioning Indonesia as a credible and competitive player in the global battery supply chain, not merely as a raw material exporter, but as a full-value-chain participant.

In closing, NBRI formally invited Minister AHY to attend the Indonesia Battery Summit 2026 as a key platform for advancing sustainable infrastructure and accelerating Indonesia's clean energy transformation. The Summit is envisioned as a convergence point for policymakers, researchers, and industry leaders to collectively shape the future of Indonesia's battery industry.
