NBRI together in Indonesia-Germany Aligment in Battery Electromobility Standards

On December 3, 2024, an insightful Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on Indonesia-Germany Battery Electromobility Standards took place at Wyndham Casablanca Jakarta. Organized by the Ministry of Industry, the event brought together key players, including the National Battery Research Institute (NBRI), GIZ, and BMWK, to discuss the alignment of battery standards between the two nations.

During the event, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Evvy Kartini, Founder of NBRI, delivered a thought-provoking presentation. She explored the similarities and differences in battery standards between Indonesia and Germany, emphasizing the urgent need for harmonization. According to her, aligning these standards is crucial for strengthening the global battery ecosystem and ensuring the seamless development of sustainable mobility solutions.

This collaboration between Indonesia and Germany reflects a shared commitment to advancing green technology and electric mobility. By working together to standardize battery technologies, both countries aim to support the rapid growth of electric vehicles (EVs) and enhance their competitiveness in the global market. The discussion also highlighted the opportunity to learn from each other’s best practices in implementing safe, efficient, and eco-friendly energy storage systems.

Participants of the FGD agreed that establishing aligned standards will not only benefit electric mobility but also open doors to greater investment and innovation in the battery sector. This step is expected to accelerate the adoption of EVs in Indonesia, contributing to a more sustainable and carbon-neutral future.

As the discussion concluded, the momentum for deeper bilateral cooperation was clear. NBRI and its partners remain committed to driving forward the harmonization of standards, supporting both nations in becoming leaders in the global shift toward sustainable energy and electromobility.
