NBRI Delivers Key Insights at the 2nd ASEAN Battery Technology Conference

The National Battery Research Institute (NBRI) was prominently represented by its founder, Prof. Evvy Kartini, at the 2nd ASEAN Battery Technology Conference (ABTC), held at Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa in Singapore from August 21-23, 2024. This prestigious event, which brought together leading experts from across the ASEAN region, focused on the latest innovations and challenges in the battery technology sector. Prof. Kartini, a respected figure in the industry, made a significant impact during the conference, contributing her extensive knowledge and expertise to the discussions.

On the opening day of the conference, Prof. Kartini took center stage as a speaker during the highly anticipated Technical Talk session. Her presentation, titled "Battery Technology from Upstream to Downstream", was one of the key highlights of the event. She provided the audience with a comprehensive overview of the battery technology landscape, addressing critical developments in battery production, recycling, and energy storage solutions. Her insights offered a detailed examination of the entire battery value chain, from the extraction of raw materials to the latest innovations in battery recycling and safety standardization.

Throughout her presentation, Prof. Kartini emphasized the importance of collaboration and standardization within the battery industry to ensure the safe and sustainable growth of this critical sector. She highlighted the strategic role that ASEAN countries, including Indonesia, play in the global battery supply chain, particularly in the extraction of critical minerals such as nickel and cobalt, which are essential for lithium-ion battery production. Her session was well-received by the audience, consisting of researchers, policymakers, and industry leaders, sparking engaging discussions on the future of battery technology in the region.

The conference provided a unique platform for knowledge exchange and networking, with participants from across ASEAN contributing to a rich dialogue on the future of electric vehicles (EVs), energy storage, and sustainable energy practices. Prof. Kartini's contribution to the event not only showcased NBRI’s leadership in the field but also reinforced the institute’s commitment to advancing innovation and driving sustainable practices within the battery technology ecosystem.

As the ASEAN region continues to emerge as a key player in the global transition towards clean energy, Prof. Kartini’s participation in the 2nd ABTC further solidified NBRI’s role in shaping the future of battery technology. The event concluded with a strong sense of optimism for the future of the industry, with Prof. Kartini’s technical insights continuing to influence discussions on battery innovation, safety, and sustainability in the years to come.
