National Battery Research Institute at the 2nd ASEAN Battery Technology Conference

The National Battery Research Institute (NBRI) is proud to have played a pivotal role in the successful organization of the 2nd ASEAN Battery Technology Conference (ABTC), held in Singapore. This prestigious event, which gathered over 320 participants from 16 countries, was a collaborative effort involving key partners such as the Singapore Battery Consortium, NanoMalaysia Bhd, the Thailand Energy Storage Technology Association (TESTA), the National Centre for Sustainable Transportation Technology, and the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines. The conference served as an essential platform for discussing the latest advancements in the battery industry, in line with its theme, "Powering ASEAN, Innovating the Future of Battery."

Throughout the event, participants engaged in insightful discussions on a range of critical topics, including battery safety, cell-to-pack technologies, and recycling strategies. These conversations were vital for shaping the future of the battery ecosystem across the ASEAN region. NBRI, as an advocate for sustainable battery technologies, played an active role in promoting innovation and collaboration among industry leaders, researchers, and policymakers, further solidifying its position as a key player in ASEAN's clean energy transition.

One of the major highlights of the conference was the focus on battery safety—an issue of paramount importance as the region scales up its efforts to decarbonize the energy and transportation sectors. Experts from across ASEAN shared knowledge on cutting-edge technologies designed to enhance the safety and reliability of batteries, particularly for electric vehicles (EVs). The exchange of expertise on cell-to-pack technologies, which aim to improve energy density and cost efficiency, was another important milestone for the region's ambition to lead in sustainable energy solutions.

In addition to technological advancements, the event highlighted the importance of recycling strategies within the lithium-ion battery supply chain, aligning with ASEAN’s goals of promoting circular economy practices. Speakers and participants emphasized the necessity of developing efficient recycling systems to address the environmental challenges posed by increasing battery production and usage. NBRI, as a research leader, showcased its ongoing initiatives in this area, underscoring its commitment to supporting ASEAN’s sustainable energy agenda.

The 2nd ASEAN Battery Technology Conference proved to be a remarkable success, thanks to the collaborative efforts of all participants and partners. NBRI is deeply grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such an influential event and extends its heartfelt appreciation to everyone who helped make it possible. As the region continues to work toward a greener future, NBRI looks forward to further collaborations that will drive innovation and accelerate the energy transition across ASEAN and beyond.
