Jakarta, 29 July 2024 – The International Battery Summit 2024, held on July 29-30 at Hotel Mulia Jakarta, was a resounding success, bringing together industry leaders, regulators, innovators, and experts from around the globe to discuss and explore critical topics driving the future of the battery market. Hosted by the National Battery Research Institute (NBRI), co-hosted by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) and the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime and Investment Affairs (Kemenkomarvest), and co-organized by Pamerindo, the event marked a pivotal moment for Indonesia's clean energy ambitions.
The summit, themed "The Future Battery Technology from Upstream to Downstream for Accelerating Clean Energy Transition," featured keynote addresses from prominent figures such as the Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs, the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Presidency, and the Deputy for Infrastructure and Transportation Coordination at Kemenkomarvest. These leaders emphasized Indonesia's strategic vision to become a global hub for electric vehicle (EV) batteries, leveraging its rich mineral resources and innovative policies.
The event offered dedicated sessions on raw material sourcing, manufacturing advancements, and supply chain optimization. "Indonesia is poised to lead the global transition to clean energy. Keynote presentations from 24 top experts inspired attendees with insights into the latest battery projects and industry developments both in Indonesia and globally. Topics ranged from mapping Indonesia's potential resources in the global battery supply chain to advancing battery standardization and safety.
The summit also emphasized the integration of upstream and downstream processes in battery production. The Founder of the National Battery Research Institute detailed Indonesia's holistic approach, encompassing everything from raw material extraction to battery recycling. "Our research and development efforts focus on creating efficient, sustainable, and environmentally friendly battery technologies. This summit showcases the latest advancements and fosters discussions on best practices," he explained.
Prominent industry leaders, such as the Chairman of the Association of Indonesia Nickel Miners (APNI) and the CEO of INFIEN ENERGI, underscored the importance of industry cooperation.
