Hotel Mulia, Jakarta 29 July 2024, The International Battery Summit 2024 officially commenced with an opening ceremony featuring remarks from H.E. Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Coordinating Minister of Maritime and Investment (Kemenko Marves) of the Republic of Indonesia. Dr. Moeldoko, Chairman of the Executive Office of the President (KSP), and Shinta Kamdani, Vice Chairman Coordinator for Maritime, Investment, and Foreign Affairs of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), also delivered remarks, emphasizing Indonesia’s growing influence in the global battery market. Prof. Evvy Kartini, founder of the National Battery Research Institute (NBRI), joined the esteemed speakers alongside other distinguished VVIP guests.
The summit focuses on strategic issues affecting the entire battery supply chain, providing a comprehensive exploration of challenges and opportunities. It covers cutting-edge battery technologies, the sourcing of critical minerals and mining, and advances in battery manufacturing. The event also explores applications in energy storage for renewable energy (RE) and electric vehicles (EVs), positioning Indonesia at the forefront of innovation in the energy sector.
One of the key highlights of the summit is its dedication to sustainability. Discussions will dive into the recycling of batteries to foster a circular economy, infrastructure supporting the electric vehicle ecosystem, and business and investment opportunities for both local and international players. Policy, diplomacy, and standardization in battery testing are among the topics being discussed, along with the development of a skilled workforce to support the growing industry.
This year, the summit attracted a remarkable audience, with 487 attendees from 296 institutions and companies, including 72 speakers and moderators leading critical conversations. The diverse lineup of participants reflects the summit’s global reach, with 59% of attendees coming from foreign countries and 41% representing domestic organizations.
Representatives from 20 countries have gathered for the summit, including Indonesia, Singapore, the United States, Australia, Germany, Vietnam, South Korea, Japan, China, India, Canada, Malaysia, and the Philippines, among others. This international presence underscores the summit’s importance as a platform for collaboration and knowledge exchange in the battery industry.
With a holistic approach to discussing advanced battery technology, business opportunities, and policy frameworks, the International Battery Summit 2024 is set to be a critical event driving the future of energy solutions and Indonesia’s role as a global battery leader.
