The Challenge of Implementing Solar PV Battery Based

Solar Power Plant (PLTS) Project in Kupang, Indonesia

One of the important issue that related to Solar Photovoltaic installation project is the adaptability. Does the Solar PV could installed in every surface of the earth? Just like public secret, this kind of question always emerges. Theoretically, the answer is yes. But, for more yield electricity, we need to adjust the system for gaining more solar energy. This issue also cover up on PLN’s Focus Group Discussion about Conversion Program from Diesel Power Plant (PLTD) to Solar Power Plant (PLTS) and Battery on May 10th 2021.

As claimed by Mr. Linus Andro Mulana Sijabat, the director of business strategy and portfolio PT. Len Industry, states that there are several challenges for implementing 5 MWp Solar Power Plant (PLTS) Project in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). Such as land acquisition (check directly the land ownership), the grid conditions (interconnection study), master plan of kabupaten/kota, good relationship with local leaders, local content (regarding investment costs), and lender (local bank with competitive interest rates). For further, on the report of Mr. Hepi Santosa, General Manager of PT. Sankeindo, states that the biggest challenge on solar PV battery-based lays on installation design, the technology preference, operation and maintenance progress.
